THE BEGINNINGS

SOLO WORKS:

(2023) MYLM2 – I am working on a follow-up to my first album, «Estoy Muerto Estoy Vivo» (see below); here I will combine live instruments with virtual ones. This is a demo of «Southern joy», one of the songs I wrote for this album:

(2010 to present) Choral arrangements – Arrangements for amateur elderly adults should be simple, singable, and sound good. Here is an example of a three-part arrangement I have written for the song «Eres Tú» by Mocedades.

(2012) ESTOY MUERTO ESTOY VIVO
I created a fictional band to record a set of songs I had composed in previous years. The premise was for the album to sound like a live band, even though I recorded all the instruments (drums, bass, guitars, piano, and vocals). This project was a great challenge and, although it doesn’t sound very good, it felt great to finish it.

(2011) SUMMER SAMBA – MISTY – I recorded these jazz standards while studying at Music School in Barcelona.

(2010) I produced the album «Back to the Beauty» by singer-songwriter SBINA in my home studio. With her, we recorded a version of the song «I heard love is blind» by Amy Winehouse, in which I played the guitar, and we also performed together several times in Barcelona.

(2009) POESIAS Y MELODIAS I created music to accompany Paula Vives Entrena’s poems.

(2008) JE CHERCHE – My friend Juliette, a modern dance student, had created a choreography for a dance competition and asked me to write music to accompany it. We rented a dance space, and I improvised songs while Amelie, Juliette’s schoolmate, showed me the dance steps. Then, I I assembled the pieces of music to fit into the structure of the choreography. We recorded a preliminary version of the music shortly after. Unfortunately, the recording has some quantization issues and the tempo is slightly off at times.

COLLABORATIONS:

I have collaborated with many bands and projects. The performances took place in various music bars in Barcelona (such as Heliogabal, RAI art, L’Astrolabi, Big Bang, Robadors 23, El Arco de la Virgen, Bar Electric, Malavida, Invisible, Noi and Blau, Tribbiani, etc) and Buenos Aires (San Marcos Rock festivals, Museum, Pizza Manola, etc).

(2013 – present) FANSHUI – I joined singer Olga Zinkevich to create this duo. Over the years, we have blended blues and jazz songs with pop standards, and we have also composed some original songs. We have performed live at music bars, private parties, events, and weddings, combining pre-recorded tracks with live singing and music. We have also recorded some videos and an album, all of which you can enjoy by clicking HERE.

Below, we can see a video of FanShui playing an acoustic version of our song «Kaleidoscope», recorded at the L’Astrolabi bar in Gracia in 2016:

(2011) LATINFIRE – This band played songs by Jay Noden and usually included Jay on vocals and acoustic guitar, Andreas on bass, Pau on percussion, and me on electric guitar. We didn’t record any material, but we played many concerts around Bcn, the last one at the now-defunct Electric Bar in Gracia.

Here we have two recordings, one made during Halloween at the cultural center El Arco de la Virgen (The Metro Song) and the other at the RAI ART venue in Barcelona (Padre Nuestro).

(2011) DELIRIUM ORCHESTRA. I joined this band as a keyboardist in the summer of 2011, to perform hits of pop and rock in Spanish at parties. Here’s an example («Hasta luego cocodrilo») of a live performance in Vallbona, near Barcelona:

(2010) PROFESSOR GLOBO – I recorded the piano parts on two of the songs («Estem Contents» and «Canço de pluja») from the album La Flor al Cul (singles). I also played the keyboard with the band Guillem Baladía, the driving force behind this project, formed to present the album at a music festival called Posidonia, held on the island of Formentera.

(2009) DUOMAR – Along with the saxophone student from Music School Fred Dambel, we decided to spend the summer of 2009 playing jazz for tourists on the streets of Barcelona. In this project, I played the guitar. We recorded an album in my home studio, and Fred’s mother, a film student, filmed us while playing on the beach. With excerpts from the album’s songs and footage from the movie, I edited THIS short video clip.

(2007 to 2013) JAYPER – I played keyboard and percussion for this duo of great international artists, Jay Noden and Per Sahlstrom, who have created three albums of original music that you can listen to HERE. I also collaborated with the later incarnations of this band, led by Jay, called «Home» and «Jay and Bella». This drawing by Dr. Alejandro Daffunchio shows us rehearsing:

(2008 – 2013) SHINE – This amazing open mic organized by Jay Noden was initially held monthly and later on a weekly basis, in various bars in Bcn. It featured actors, magicians, dancers, and all sorts of performing artists. I participated in many editions, performing alongside other artists as well as solo.

Jay even created a CD with many artists who performed on Shine:

Here we have a song from this album, «Naranjo en flor», by the tango band «Los Gauchos de Essex» in which Jay played the guitar, Ale sang, Juliette played the violin, Cristina played the flute, Sil played the saxophone, and I played the piano.

(2002 – 2006) THE MAGICALS – While I was in Architecture School, I joined a country rock band called The Magicals, along with Christian on guitar and vocals, Pato on bass, Chenko and Ariel on drums, Chof and Lorena on vocals, Carlos, Dogui and Pol on electric guitars, and myself as a pianist and co-singer. We wrote original material, played rock standards in local clubs, theaters, and bars, and recorded an EP that you can listen to HERE in 2005. You can also watch the band performing a live cover of «My Immortal» by Evanescence at a rock festival HERE.

THE BEGINnING:

Between the ages of 12 and 17, I took piano lessons and learned pop, classical, and jazz standards from teacher Alejandro Weber. At the age of 15, I taught myself to play the drums and performed heavy metal, grunge, and punk classics with my high school friends for four years in a band called Marea Roja. This band improvised a lot, wrote some original songs, and performed at school events and parties.

In my last year of high school, I teamed up with a friend and fellow student of Alejandro Weber and used his Roland synthesizer to recreate radio pop classics, write songs, and produce music for high school and kindergarten theater productions.

After playing with the Magicals until 2006, I moved to Barcelona and studied piano, solfege, and harmony (Modern Music and Jazz) at the L’Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz (part of the Berklee School of Boston international network)
